I’ve been participating in Digital Point forum for more than a year now and I’ve seen so many people got scammed in various trades – link sales, domains, online businesses, scammy services, etc.
Of course being a
‘wise business person’, you got to take necessary precautions whenever you make a sale anywhere.
Pertaining to the title above,
YES, there have been lotsa scams when it comes to selling domains over at Digital Point.
Case: Jimmy wants to sell his domain over at DP whereby he conveniently started a new thread telling everyone that he’s selling his PR5 domain for a premium price. A buyer with 10+ iTrader messaged him saying that he is interested in purchasing the domain.
Buyer pays Jimmy with PayPal.
Jimmy verifies that the money was credited into his PayPal account and initiates a domain transfer to the buyer.
A couple of weeks later, the buyer sent a dispute to PayPal saying that there was some problem with the goods.
PayPal takes the complaint, freezes the money for 2 months and returns the cash to the fraudulent buyer.
Fraud committed.
Steps to Protect Youself as a Domain Seller: Use escrow.com services! This is an established domain buying and selling services whereby they act as a middle person for the domain trade. You initiate a trade request and the buyer pays escrow via PayPal while you initiate the domain transfer to escrow. Once the trade is complete, the buyer would get the domain while escrow would pay you via PayPal. Should the buyer sends a dispute to PayPal over this trade, you are protected by escrow as they would not deduct the money that they have paid to you.
Problem Solved!
