Just yesterday, Chile was struck by one of the biggest earthquakes recorded in the 21st century. The earthquake which measures 8.8 on the Richter Scale has already claimed up to 700 lives, and the figure is increasing on a daily basis. Although the death toll is somewhat lower when compared to the Haiti disaster, the Chilean government is appealing for international aid, in order to save people who are trapped inside buildings which fell during the earthquake.
Generally, an earthquake with the magnitude of 8.8 has sounded the tsunami alarm in the Pacific Ocean. Countries like Japan and China are on full alert for killer waves, which might slam into their beaches. Although Japan has recorded small waves hitting their shores, the country is still on alert just in case catastrophe strikes the country.

I notice that most of my friend who wear glasses, chose a rather squarish design for their spectacle frame. It also seems that squarish spectacle frames are in fashion these days, whereby more and more people like such design on their eyewear. Of late, the optometrist told me that I needed to wear a pair of eyeglasses, as my vision has somewhat deteriorated due to reading. We all know that GM was heading towards bankruptcy last year, and because of the government’s intervention, GM survived the economic onslaught. Nevertheless, due to the fact that the government has pumped in several billions of dollars into the company, GM and GMAC, the former finance arm of General Motors appear to be stable – for now.
Still, market analysts predicted that GMAC will have more problems in the near future, and key decision makers should already make provisions in order to absorbs these challenges.

With investors venting their concerns over the economic recovery, the price of crude oil fell close to 3% today. Generally, the price of the crude oil commodity climbed to $80 per barrel earlier this week, but due to concerns shown by investors, the price dropped back to the $70- per barrel range.
Personally, I believe that the government should stem up their efforts in creating more jobs, rather than pushing for a healthcare reform. Generally, the idea to reform the healthcare industry fell short from being implemented, and it’s just so time consuming and resource intensive to implement such projects now with such economic scenarios.

With the great depression behind us, the market is once again abuzz with concerns with the latest efforts in stemming out the economic disaster. The stock market tumbled today, whereby investors are concerned over the latest developments in steering the entire economy out of recession. Generally, the Dow Jones fell 150 points, and blue chips which dominate the Dow Jones index dropped as well.
Personally, I feel that the President should do something to create more jobs in the market. With the jobless claims at an all time high, it’s pretty hard to ignore that the economy is ever going to recover.

The other day, a friend of mine told me that she got cheap flight tickets to Hawaii, and surprisingly enough, these flight tickets are so darn cheap! Of course, this prompted me to do my own flight ticket search, and it seems that there are so many websites on the internet which can offer jaw dropping cheap flights out of the city. Personally, I’d like to visit Japan someday, as another friend of mine told me that Tokyo is simply magnificent. In fact, Tokyo is such a gigantic city and most of the infrastructures inside the city are top notch. On the other hand, it also seems that the Japanese has a unique culture, which I am dying to experience. Generally, I’m already saving up some money so that I can go to Japan for my vacation. Although the flight ticket might be cheap, my friend told me that the living expenses inside this mega city, is pretty expensive. Well I already know where to buy my flight tickets to my holiday destination, so let’s just hope that my boss will grant me some time off, so that I can travel around the world experiencing different cultures and lifestyles.

My friends and I love to indulge ourselves with expensive food and other high profile lifestyles. Earlier, Akio Toyoda the Chief Executive for Toyota, has apparently apologized for Toyota’s recall of 8.5 million cars. The 53-year old chief executive for Toyota has mentioned that the company simply grew too fast and couldn’t keep track of the safety issues on their cars, which resulted in countless of accidents and other harrowing experiences faced by Toyota car owners. Generally, Akio Toyoda mentioned that he is deeply sorry for any accidents that Toyota drivers experienced.
Personally, I feel that Akio Toyoda should have apologized earlier and that his ego to fix the gas pedal problem and to admit the faulty part on the car has left the company in one of the worst conditions in history.
I think that Akio Toyoda should resign for making such grave mistakes.

I love listening to music in the form of MP3 files, as I believe that music represents a huge part of my life. For those who have been following closely over the developments of Lufthansa’s pilot strike, the respective company has in fact sought the help of the court to halt the pilot’s strike, whereby close to 4,000 of Lufthansa’s pilots are on a four-day walkout from their jobs.
The strike has affected the airline’s 1,800 flights worldwide, and nearly half of these flights were canceled on Monday. Close to 10,000 passengers were affected by the strike.
Personally, I feel that the worldwide airline industry isn’t performing on par, and that a strike today would definitely bankrupt the company tomorrow. Surely 4,000 pilot won’t have another airline to depend on, as surely most airlines in the world aren’t hiring pilots during this difficult financial period.

When Toyota made the announcement that they will be recalling millions of their vehicles for faulty gas pedals, it causes widespread chaos for the company. Nevertheless, it seems that the Japanese lawmakers are already putting the plug into such recalls, whereby they want to review and improve their car recall system, so that it can be more effective in the near future.
Personally, I find Toyota’s recall to be a true disgrace – Toyota is the world’s largest auto manufacturer, and their ignorance over their gas pedal issues is unforgivable. Although Toyota was responsible enough to recall and fix their vehicles, countless of lives were perished after Toyota’s gas pedals failed to work properly.
